Pete Olson was born in 1962 in Fort Lewis, Washington State. Following graduation from the University of Texas School of Law in Austin, he began a highly decorated, nine-year career as a Naval Aviator. Pete was transferred to serve on the staff of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in 1994 and a year later was assigned to be a Naval Liaison Officer to the U.S. Senate.

While Pete was a Senate Liaison Officer, he assisted Texas’ then senior Senator, Phil Gramm, on several trips overseas to inspect military installations and joined his staff in 1998 to head up the Senator’s work protecting and improving critical military facilities in Texas. Upon Senator Gramm’s retirement, Pete was asked by newly-elected Senator John Cornyn to be his Chief of Staff.

In 2008, with the support of thousands of volunteers and activists across the area, Pete defeated Democrat incumbent Nick Lampson and was elected as the new Congressman for the 22nd Congressional District where he currently serves on the Committee on Energy and Commerce.

Pete has been endorsed by Texas Alliance for Life, Texas Farm Bureau Federation and the Texas Right to Life Committee.

Drug trafficking, human smugglers, and murderers are coming across our border and that is simply not acceptable. I support the President’s plan to build a wall on our southern border.

We must also step up enforcement in the vast interior portion of our country. Houston and the surrounding areas have seen the violence on our streets brought by criminal illegal aliens.

We shouldn’t have gun battles in our neighborhoods between these gangs and police officers being shot by criminal illegal immigrants.

Gun Control

As a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, I strongly oppose any attempts to limit the rights of law-abiding gun owners. I believe that the key to ending unlawful use of firearms is strict enforcement of existing laws. By enforcing our current laws, we can responsibly work toward making sure that guns stay out of the hands of criminals.

While no one believes that felons should be able to purchase guns, we must not infringe on the rights of honest and law-abiding gun owners to keep and bear firearms. Please be assured that I will continue to fight for gun owners’ rights.

I believe that life begins at conception and every life has a soul. Our country should work to protect innocent life and I will vote that way in Congress as I did when I supported the defunding of Planned Parenthood. I do not believe taxpayer dollars should be spent on these organizations.

I am appalled by the undercover footage of Planned Parenthood Federation of America staff casually planning a day of abortions strategically performed to harvest requested organs of unborn babies. Regardless of one’s view on protecting the unborn, we can all agree that Planned Parenthood should not be an organ factory. In the case of a mother’s life being in danger, I would understand abortion being necessary.

As a former Navy pilot and action officer to the Joint Chiefs of Staff, I know first hand that we still live in a dangerous world where countries and state-sponsored terrorist organizations are focused on destroying America and harming innocent civilians. This is a war we did not ask for, did not provoke, but one we must win.

The brave men and women who serve on the front lines in our Armed Forces, intelligence services, and their families are true American heroes. I am committed to making sure they have the resources they need, the manpower necessary to win, and a Congressman who will support their mission to kill or capture terrorists wherever they may be hiding, training, or plotting attacks.
